About Healthy Kids Community Challenge Ajax

The Town of Ajax is one of 45 communities in Ontario selected to participate in the Healthy Kids Community Challenge.

Targeted at children 12 years and under, The Healthy Kids Community Challenge unites communities with a common goal: promoting children’s health through physical activity and healthy eating.

The Town of Ajax is receiving up to $825,000 from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care to fund the Healthy Kids Community Challenge. The Town and community partners are implementing the program over the next three years.

Every nine months, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care will launch a new theme related to physical activity or healthy eating which will guide the development of local programs, policies and initiatives that promote and enable healthy behaviours.

The first theme is Run. Jump. Play. Every Day. This theme encourages physical activity through a mix of active play, sport, active transportation and structured activities.
